Snowdays in the A

Ok, so recently Atlanta declared a state of emergency for 2-4" of snow, combined with ice and freezing rain. Now, I grew up in Detroit, and anybody from the midwest will tell you, they keep it moving. The news reports snow is coming, the salt trucks are out the night before, and everything stays open.

I'm not going to say any names, but somebody thought, "hey let's wait until after the snow falls to bring out the salt trucks." So on top of the idiot out sliding around the city, the salt trucks are out putting salt on top of the snow, which by that time has turned to ice. Now, I'm not a salt expert or anything, but I thought you put the salt down before it snows to prevent the snow from sticking?!

Now let's turn our attention to the grocery store...when the weather person says its gonna be a bad snow storm, why do people think it's a good idea to go and buy up a ton of milk, meat, and things that spoil if by chance the power goes out?! If you really don't drink that much milk on a daily basis, what exactly do you think will happen when you're locked up in the house for a week? Do you feel like when you look out your window and see snow it's going to make you thirsty for, of all things, milk?! And do you plan on cooking out with all the meat? NEWSFLASH!!!! It's probably going to be too damn cold to try to grill! And if your power goes out, because that happens sometimes during a snow storm, your food will just spoil, so what's plan B?

Note to folks not used to snow:

If there is a storm coming, don't panic, get what groceries you'll actually need to make a couple meals, and if you must, grab a gallon of milk.

Salt the roads before the snow falls, it will make life a lot easier.

And remember, it's not the end of the world, do like your midwest counterparts, and keep it moving.
